Conservation Cropping Systems on Reclaimed Mineland

The Indiana Prime Farmland Team, part of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, was formed in 1993 to develop and provide recommendations that ensure the protection, restoration and management of soil resources affected by coal mining in Indiana. The group seeks to coordinate cooperation between the coal industry, farmers, and government agencies to protect soil resources and maximize productivity on reclaimed mine land.

More information about using conservation cropping systems to maximize productivity and protect soil resources on reclaimed mine land can be found here: Cover Crops and Soil Health Management Systems on Reclaimed Mine Land

CCSI and the Indiana Prime Farmland Team will host a field day at the Bear Run Mine in Dugger on June 25, 2015. More information is available in the event flyer.
